Accounting 101 for Small Business Owners

In this session you will hear from Chartered Certified Accountant Heather Smith who will provide an insight into accounting, record keeping and tax obligations.
You will be introduced to basic accounting terms like Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income COGS, Expenses, Debits and Credits, General ledgers, Journals.
The mechanics of the accounting formula will be discussed.
You will learn about standard financial reports that are needed to manage a business; Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable.
You will be introduced to accounting software suitable for your business; XERO and MYOB.
Finally you will be presented with a brief overview of Australian businesses tax obligations.

Preparing an Annual Budget

The practical side of preparing an annual budget in both MYOB Accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
